A penny for your thoughts...
Reader-feedback for my next book of poems
Dear readers,
First of all, thank you for whatever time you have given to my words this year. It is a delight to share portions of my soul with yours.
Second, it is a simple question, but I do value your answers—
Which of my poems have called out an “oomph” or “aha!” or “YES!” from you?
Put differently, if you’ve been a more-or-less faithful reader, what are your top 3 (or even top 1 or 2) favorite poems from this Substack?
If you would be willing- you can just name titles in the comments, or send me a message in some way.
It will help me for two purposes: I’ve got a live poetry reading in Sioux Falls this Saturday at Cafe Breadico, and I need to choose what I will read/recite to that public.
Purpose two: I am in the middle of choosing which poems to include in my next book- and I value reader insights.
Finally, a great-big thank you to those of you who have supported my writing financially, whether through this publication or through my current Kickstarter campaign. Today will be my final post to remind you that you can give to help me publish my next book through Saturday, Dec 6th.
Here is the Kickstarter Campaign page.
I have about $2,400 left to raise. If the Spirit moves and you are able, I won’t stop it or you! If the Spirit don’t move, be free to leave it, reader. It’s the best way.

Hi Joy, I especially liked “Movements of the Spirit”.
Oh goodness, how to choose… ?!
These are a few of my faves:
Meeting A Stranger
One-Year-Old Light
An Open Letter to Elsa
Slug Life
And of course your chin hair poem 🤣
